A Path I Must Follow
The colours of this painting were inspired by a sky I saw in a book about the work of some selected artists. The trees set against a setting sun are a common sight in Suffolk but the distant spire in blue and the soft blue/green trees the path leading to the spire was the last piece of inspiration to draw you into the picture. The dream-like quality is deliberate and perhaps adds a suggestion of religion or other-worldliness to the piece. The colours used are burnt sienna, ochre, Naples yellow, burnt umber, Prussian green, manganese blue and the tiniest touch of titanium white.
